York Central MP Hugh Bayley says Yes!

This morning saw Hugh Bayley Labour MP for York Central announce his support for the Alternative Vote in the upcoming referendum. Visiting our team of volunteers and activists during their phonebank in the Space 109 community centre, Hugh discussed the campaign, watched the promotional video and posed for photographs.

Commenting to the local media he said:

“After the expenses scandal, parliament has to change to win back
public trust. Business as usual won’t do. Changing the voting system
so that MPs only win if they get a majority of the votes is an
important step forward because it will make MPs reach out to people in
other parties and listen to different points of views”

It was a real motivator to see a distinguished politician not only
work in a non-partisan way, but to take the time to use his influence
for the benefit of the campaign. Let’s hope he is one of many between
now and May 5th.
