Boost from the red benches as Peers say Yes
UPDATE 27/1/11: Lord Melvyn Bragg has confirmed that he is also a supporter of the Labour Yes campaign.
Several senior peers have today backed the Labour Yes campaign, stressing their intention to back a yes vote on the Alternative Vote when a referendum is held. Among the latest names to offer their support are renowned Professors Anthony Giddens and Richard Layard, along with former European adviser Roger Liddle and former Constitutional Affairs minister Michael Wills. They join two of the most recently appointed Peers – Professor Ruth Lister and Oona King – as well as former Labour leader Neil Kinnock and deputy Roy Hattersley. Also supporting a yes vote from the red benches are Glenys Kinnock and Professor Raymond Plant, who was tasked by the party with heading up an extensive Commission into voting systems. The full list of campaign endorsers can be found here.

@Andy Farrell: The idea that AV “backs the BNP vote” is just nasty, manipulative spin from the No2AV campaign, who are run and funded by Tory peers and the TaxPayers’ Alliance.
